I have yet to find the person who does not like or want to be blessed. Our lives were designed to experience blessing. I have conducted a small study about blessing and to bless.
What is the purpose of blessing?
The role of blessing and to bless and be blessed is of utmost importance.
The greek word for bless is - 'EULOGEO' with its core meaning: - "to bless, to speak well of, the bestowal of good"
This word is used in the following contexts:
- Of men toward God
- To praise, celebrate with praise, thanksgiving, acknowledging His goodness
- Of men toward men
- To speak well of with praise and thanksgiving, to invoke God's blessing upon, which is God's action in their lives or God's intervention to accomplish His will when we bless one another, we express good wishes.
- Of God toward men
- To distinguish with favour
- To act in man's life and accomplish His purpose instead of allowing men to have their own way
- When the subject is God, His speaking is His action, for God's speech is "energy released"
- When God is said to bless us (speak well of us), He acts for our good as He sees our need and not necessarily our desire. Therefore He blesses by intervention.
- You are blessed - one well spoken of and acted upon. One upon whom God has acted or who has experienced the blessings
- To be blessed by God is God's action in man's life to bring him to the desired relationship with Himself
- I do want to encourage you in the coming days to do the following three things:
- Praise God and bless Him with thanksgiving and worship
- Bless your neighbor, spouse kids or co-worker by giving your time, finances or just bestow some encouraging words on them of how great and precious they are.
- Then, be alert in your spirit to experience the blessing of God of what He says over your life, the blessing of family and the many things He gives you.
