As I have previously mentioned, God acts for our good and He sees our need and not necessarily our desire. He blesses by intervention.
Let me share some scriptures to underpin it:
1) Act 3:26 Having raised up His son Jesus, God sent Him to you first, to bless you in turning every one of you away from his iniquities. God sent His Son to bless us, to intervene in our lives with what He planned to do for us.
2) Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ; This refers to God who intervened and acted so that our spirits might be made conformable to His Spirit
3) Heb 6:14 saying, "Surely in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply you."
Since it is My nature to bless or to act in people's lives, I will act in yours as well The first word "blessing" indicates the nature of God and the second word "bless" indicates God's definite action in the future
Now this is VERY IMPORTANT: God's speaking is His action, for God's speech is "energy released".
God operates and acts only by and through His Word. Now the Bible says in Romans the following:
Rom 10:8 But what does it say? "The Word is near you, even in your mouth and in your heart"; that is, the Word of Faith which we proclaim; Rom 10:9 Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation
This means that the moment I bless someone - "speak well of someone" - my speaking now becomes God's action in that person's life - God is now acting on the word that I speak!
This revelation astounded me and once again reiterates the fact that the words out of my mouth either can bring life or death. If you curse instead of bless it is to speak death and negative things over and about that person. Rom 12:14 Bless those who persecute you; bless, and do not curse.
I would however like to express a friendly warning in love to you:
1Pe 3:9 Never give back evil for evil, or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, giving blessing, knowing that you are called to this so that you might inherit blessing.
The moment you speak something bad or negative about someone else, or the moment you slander or gossip - your speaking now becomes the devil's action - you give the enemy the opportunity and permission to torment and trouble that person.
So in conclusion, let us bless each other so that we can inherit blessing. Find the time and words to bless someone - even if it's a prayer.
We are called to bless and be a blessing!
